These days anything that is free is worth having, apart from the catch. Like free lunches there is no such thing as a free HIP. Some Estate agents are offering free home information packs but often they will simply increase their commission to pay for the HIP, make you agree to a lengthy tie in or tie you in to a deferred payment scheme which will cost you up to an extra £100.00! Care should be taken with agents offering 'free' Home Information Packs.

On average a HIP will cost between £299.00 and £499.00 sometimes more and sometimes less, this depends on the size and tenure of each property.
